Exhibit - Work in progress.

Exhibit is a 45–60-minute physical theatre piece blending dance, circus, comedy, and song to celebrate the absurdities of life. Created and performed by Leisa Prowd and Emma J. Hawkins—two short-statured, middle-aged women often mistaken for one another—the show explores identity, societal expectations, and the power of embracing difference.

Through humor and striking visuals, Exhibit challenges notions of normalcy and celebrates the wonderfully weird. On stage, we navigate the tension between societal boxes and personal identity, questioning what it means to exist in a world unsure of how to define us. As women with disabilities, we push against limitations, showcasing bold, unexpected performances like dancing in wearable beanbags and rolling on walking globes.

Featuring handcrafted costumes and set pieces, the show invites audiences to engage with the work not just visually but also tactilely. Exhibit blurs the boundaries between performer and audience, taking up space unapologetically and redefining what’s possible. It’s a joyful, thought-provoking exploration of identity and humanity, celebrating a world where being different is the norm.
